Tagbilaran City’s 2017 Special Education Fund (SEF) increases by 22%

From Php55.7 million last year, the Special Education Fund (SEF) for Tagbilaran City has increased to Php71.4 million this year. City Mayor John Geesnell “BABA” Yap expressed his gratitude to the religious Tagbilaranon taxpayers who have never failed to show its trust and confidence to the City Government by their faithful and prompt payment of Real Property Taxes (RPT). According to Revenue Generation Consultant Primitiva Ontong, Tagbilaran City has way exceeded its RPT target last year. As a result, the SEF which is the 1% of the assessed value of the City’s RPT has also increased dramatically. Mayor Yap said that this is truly encouraging because the increase will definitely translate to a comprehensive public service delivery this 2017. The SEF is the life-blood of the Tagbilaran City’s Department of Education. The expenses for the construction, repairs and maintenance of public school buildings, trainings and seminars, sports development, maintenance and operating expenses, the Alternative Learning System, travel expenses, and the funds for the various activities and competitions in all the public schools in Tagbilaran City are charged to the SEF.

For this year, several upgrade, maintenance and repairs for Booy South, Manga, Cogon, San Isidro, City Central, City East, Mansasa National High School, Taloto Elementary School, Eastern Cogon, Ubujan Elementary and Dampas will be prioritized. Construction of a multi-purpose hall in City East Elementary School, Manga Elementary School, Dampas Elementary School and San Isidro National High School were also funded. Procurement of 5 Robotic Sets was also included. Almost Php7 million was also allocated for sports development this year led by CVIRAA, Palarong Pambansa and the City Meet. Php3 million will be for Local and Regional Academic Competitions and Php1.9 million has also been allocated for the capability-building of the teachers.
