Tagbilaran City PNP leads mass destruction of improvised mufflers

700 confiscated improvised mufflers were flattened using a roller by the Tagbilaran City Police Station (TCPS) under P/Supt. Patricio Degay, Jr. in the New City Hall Building. According to scientific studies, loud pipes make riders more aggressive and cause other motorists to react irrationally.

City Mayor John Geesnell “BABA” Yap has been aggressively campaigning against the use of these illegal mufflers in pursuant of Republic Act (RA) No. 4136, under Article 4, Section 34 which states that, “Every motor vehicle propelled by an internal combustion engine shall be equipped with a muffler, and whenever said motor vehicle passes through a street of any city, municipality, or thickly populated district or barrio, the muffler shall not be cut out or disconnected. No motor vehicle shall be operated in such a manner as to cause it to emit or make any unnecessary or disagreeable odor, smoke or noise.”
