Tagbilaran City celebrates Arts Month

The City Council for Culture and the Arts (CCCA) led by its president Prof. JoshibiahGaa De Juan in coordination with the City Events, Culture and the Arts Office under Joseph Alexis Cadeliña, joined hands with the National Council for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in celebration of the National Arts Month themed as “Malikhain. Mapagbago. Filipino”, the theme underscores the creative power of the Arts and its role as a catalyst for change. It also highlights Arts as a reflection of the nation’s soul, and from it our pride of being Filipino. Month-long activities were lined up to showcase the artistic brilliance of the Tagbilaranons, such as the Inter-School “Balak” and “Pakigpulong” Competitions, Visual Arts Workshop by Joey Labrador, Inter – School Street Dance Competition at Plaza Rizal, and the Inter-School “Balitaw”, “Kundiman”, and Folk Dancing Competitions. The competition which was held in BQ Mall and ICM Activity Center saw John Richmond Pitao from Dr. Cecilio Putong national High School topping the “Balak Inter-School”, while the Open Category was conquered by James Leo Melloria from Poblacion 3 and the “Pakigpulong” witnessed the skill of Maria Avena Briones from the Tagbilaran City Science High School. The hopeful participants were reckoned by a distinguished panel of judges led by Engr. Jes Tirol, Rosalinda Paredes, Faustino Culpa, Rene Euneponte, and Isabelito “Tatay Billy” Tongco. The culmination and awarding ceremonies will be on February 28, 1:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon at the Island City Mall Activity Center.
