Mayor Yap signs MOU with CHARL


The City Government of Tagbilaran entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chocolate Hills Amateur Radio Corporation (CHARL) led by its President, Engr. Gerisse Marie Marmito, to provide logistical and manpower support to the response efforts of the City Government in times of emergencies, calamities and various public events. CHARL volunteers will provide radio communication and manpower support to the City Government and adhere to the incident command system established by the City. CHARL pledged to coordinate, cooperate, assist and support in the over-all disaster risk reduction efforts of Tagbilaran City.

The City Government would in turn assist in the training of CHARL members in disaster response operations, cover the food provisions and temporary base of operations of the CHARL volunteers during the conduct of actual disaster response activities, provide them with protective equipment during the dispensation of their duties and in accordance with Section 13 of Republic Act 10121, any CHARL volunteer who incurs death or injury while engaged in any activities defined under the Act shall be entitled to compensatory benefits and individual personnel accident insurance. City Mayor John Geesnell “BABA” Yap also led the induction of the newly-elected CHARL officers. Bohol PNP Provincial Director Felipe Natividad and City Councilor Eliezer Borja were also in attendance.
