Mayor Yap graces “Ugnayan” with high hopes

Pres. Rodrigo Duterte has always championed transparency in the government, validated with the signing of the executive order making information accessible. In view of this, a team from the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) discussed the Freedom of Information (FOI), Presidential Executive Order No. 2 — the Philippine ASEAN 2017 Chairmanship, the priority plans and programs of the Duterte Administration, and trade and industry impact of the ASEAN in Central Visayas in a multi-sectoral forum entitled “Ugnayan: A Dialogue for Progress”.

 

Distinguished speakers led by Presidential Assistant for the Visayas, Sec. Michael Lloyd Dino, PIA Director General, Usec. Harold Clavite, Presidential Communications Operations Officer, Michelle Arianne Manza, NEDA 7 Asst. Regional Director Dioniso Ledres Jr. and PIA Asst. Regional Director Fayette Riñen shared valuable insights. The half-day dialogue was attended by Provincial Government officials and Chiefs of Offices led by Gov. Edgar Chatto, Mayors, Liga ng mga Barangay Chairmen, Barangay Secretaries, information officers, students and key private sector representatives.

 

City Mayor John Geesnell “BABA” Yap closed the activity underscoring the relevance of strengthening the ASEAN. Mayor Yap emphasized that the government must stimulate economic growth beyond our borders which means reaching out to other countries. He stressed that the ASEAN allows us to harness the strengths of each Southeast Asian countries. The active partnership of nations within the region is a good beginning towards getting viable economic opportunities. PIA-Bohol Rey Anthony Chiu and his team organized the event.
