City Gov’t. and DSWD open another Sustainable Livelihood Program

City Mayor John Geesnell “BABA” Yap in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) represented by City Social Welfare Officer Dr. Teresita Villafuerte, SWAD Team Leader Papiasa Bustrillos, Social Welfare Officer III Ma. Charo Poligrates and Project Development Officer Claire Villarta open the 3rd Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) in Tagbilaran City.

The Dampas-SLP will focus on rice retailing, with a capital infusion of Php222,805.00 from the DSWD. Armed with basic business essentials in cash-flow and basic marketing, the 15 Pantawid members from Brgy. Dampas would divide among themselves the profit gained from the small business.

Mayor Yap has shown his all-out support to the initiative. In fact, the City Mayor shelled out an additional Php10,000 capital in Taloto-SLP, 10 sacks of rice in Dao-SLP and 5 sacks of rice with two cellphone loaders in Dampas-SLP. Together with DSWD, Mayor Yap also looks forward to empowered Pantawid beneficiaries by increasing the economic opportunities available to them.
