Water Supply
The City of Tagbilaran is supplied with potable waters from two distinct government
entities: The Provincial Waterworks System (formerly a part of the Provincial
Public Utilities Department), which is now a joint-venture project between the
SALCON Company and the Provincial Government of Bohol; and the Tagbilaran City
Rural Waterworks System or TCWS, which is owned and managed by the City Government
of Tagbilaran. The PWS operates its water system in the Urban areas of Tagbilaran
while the TCWS operates its system in the rural district of the City.
The City Waterworks System operate in the Barangay of Cogon (partly), Booy, Taloto,
Ubujan, Manga, Tiptip, Cabawan, San Isidro, Dao, Mansasa, Bool. Since the City
has no natural fresh bodies of water, it rely on its source of water supply from
the groundwater. Since both Waterworks System operate its waterworks long ago,
and the necessity of water for domestic used is increasing, oftentimes over-pumping
of the groundwater has led to the intrusion of saltwater and affected the metallic
ground pipes with corrosion. |
