Cooperatives
As
of December 31, 1994, there are 68 cooperatives of various
types in the City duly registered with the Cooperative Authority.
Of the more than 68,925 City population, around 8,960 are
members of cooperatives or roughly 13 percent. Of the fifteen
Barangays, only Taloto and Booy districts do not have registered
cooperatives.
The cooperative development in the city leaves much to be
desired yet. But, there are cooperatives that are really functional
and after years of operation have become millionaire cooperatives.
They include the Bohol Diocesan Multi-purpose Cooperative
(BDMPC), the Bol-anon Multi-purpose Cooperative (TACECCO),
the Bohol Public School Teachers and Employees Credit Cooperative,
the BSAT Credit Cooperative, and the Tagbilaran Coca-Cola
Bottlers and San Miguel Corporation Employees Multi-purpose
Cooperatives. These cooperatives have assets and paid-up capitalization
worth millions each, that contributed to a certain extent,
the socio-economic development of the City of Tagbilaran. |
