Cogon is one of the biggest barangays in the city. The barangay is centrally and strategically located in the city of Tagbilaran. To the west, Cogon is overlooking Tagbilaran Bay; to the south, it is bounded by Poblacion 2; to the east by Barangay Dampas and Dao; and to the north by Barangay Booy. It has a plain and rolling land. The highest point of elevation is only 180 feet above sea level.

The total land area is 204.4508 hectares, and a population of 16,228, the most in the city. It is generally believed that more than one-half of its present population are no longer native Cogonhanons.
